Sant Sebastià Lighthouse

:
Maximum duration:

It is a long and circular itinerary that will lead us to Sant Sebastià Cape (Llafranc), a lovely strategic and watching place over the sea and the coves of Palafrugell shore.
Apart from Sant Sebastià Lighthouse (dates from 1895), we’ll find other interesting elements in Sant Sebastià ensemble, which is on top of a 165-m hill. First of all, there is the Iberian settlement (6th century BC) that belonged to the Indigetes tribe. It is graphically documented with information boards. Secondly, we’ll stare at the 5th-century Torre de Guaita (watching tower). There are visits only in high season. There is the Sant Sebastià de la Guarda sanctuary and its guest house (18th century) beside. We don’t forget the Divina Pastora chapel, half-hidden on top of a steep cliff that drops into the sea. Above all, Sant Sebastià Cape has a touch of magic and offers us a large panoramic view over the sea, the cliffs, the coves and the shore.
We have cycled through Fenals, Calonge, Sant Joan de Palamós and the cycling track to Palafrugell. We’ll continue towards Tamariu to find the coastal GR that comes from Tamariu and cala Pedrosa and get finally to Sant Sebastià. The beauty of this part of the GR must be pointed out.
We’ll come back, following the shore by Llafranc, Calella, Cap Roig, cala Estreta path to Castell spot, cala s’Alguer, la Fosca, Palamós and Sant Feliu.
It is a magnificent MTB route with a sea taste to rediscover the superb Sant Sebastià de la Guarda and enjoy the beauty of a distinctive place.
