Valls fountain

:
Maximum duration:

Fountains are the most appreciated elements among the rich heritage that Romanyà offers us (Romanesque, literary itineraries, viewpoints, monumental trees, megalithic monument...)
Romanyà is a spot full of fountains and “mulladins” (word used for a damp place). Around 12 fountains can be count in its hollows: Font Josepa, can Poncet, can Llac,
Guitó, Sotera, es Llop, Ruda, Prat, Roquetal, Castanyeda and so on. Some of the best-known such as Font Josepa flows more or less all year. They are lovely spots and benchmarks to have fun.
This itinerary will drive us to the Valls fountain, placed in a shady hollow below the Cova d’en Daina. The spot is clean up and arranged and the fountain flows by a regulating tap.
The starting point is at the greenway, from where we’ll cycle up to Panedas. We’ll go up to Cabra Penjada and then to Can Llac. We’ll keep on cycling through the GR. Near the cemetery, we should turn off and we’ll take a path that will lead us to the fountain.
We’ll cycle up to Romanyà again. We’ll arrive at the Calonge Road cist by a path that goes into the forest and runs parallel to the road. It is a megalithic sepulchre that is well-preserved. Before, we’ve left Cova d’en Daina dolmen behind. If we follow the path that has different signposts, we’ll find the huge Xato cork oak that has a large crown. We’ll pass by the cemetery and we’ll take a path on the right that will lead us at the wonderful Murtra menhir.
We’ll take advantage of this morning route to discover one of the Romanyà fountains (Valls fountain) that was still not documented as a cycling track and to remind us the different elements of the rich heritage around Romanyà.
