Can Poncet fountain
:
Maximum duration:
In this itinerary, we’ll be able to know one of the Romanyà fountains called can Poncet.
We’ve crossed Pla de Panedes towards ca l’Aldric camp house. Before, we’ve discovered Llambí fountain next to the mill of the same name. It was half hidden among the woods and has been restored recently.
Above the camp house, we’ve get to Sant Miquel d’Aro urbanisation. Next to the fence of the urbanisation entrance, we’ll cycle upwards by a lovely path on the left that will lead us straight to a hollow below Poncet mas. We’ll find the mine and the fountain there. Hopefully, this spot is arranged and signposted. The fountain flows by a regulating tap.
We’ll make just one effort more and we’ll reach Romanyà village. Among all the features that Romanyà has (old parish, cists, centenary cork oaks, Mercè Rodoreda itinerary, viewpoints, landscapes...), fountains have to be added to.
Some of them flow regularly: Guitó, Castanyeda, Font Josepa, can Poncet or the furthest can Roquetal one. Others are half deserted such as Prat, Valls or Can Llac fountains. A few are lost such as Llop and Sotera fountains. There is a long list that probably is not complete.
All these fountains were benchmarks and meeting points for many people of the surroundings. They represent a rich heritage that should be recovered in some places and in others, maintained and arranged, without forgetting to signpost its routes.
