Cala Bona (a cove)
:
Maximum duration:
This is a very interesting route through the Ardenya that combines mountains and sea. It will gives us the chance to discover Cala Bona in Tossa, a narrow sea tongue that comes ashore and it is surrounded by rocks and pines and ends up in a tiny cove. There is a small refreshment stall with drinks and food. Altogether, it is a very beautiful and singular image in postcard-like scenery.
From Sant Feliu, we’ll go up by Divina Pastora and cycle on the ridge to arrive at Sant Grau hermitage. We’ll continue by the asphalt track in front of the hermitage that leads us to cal Federal. After the house, we leave the main track and turn on the left. The path goes down crossing Ruixons valley, where we’ll find different fountains, some of them with water the whole year, such as Ruixó petit fountain. We’ll get to the main path and then to the Cadiretes path (GR). We’ll go down to a terrace where we’ll find the remains of Mare de Déu de Gràcia hermitage (under restoration). We’ll turn on the left, following the white and yellow marks of a short route trail that will lead us to cala Giverola (a cove). The beautiful path goes around without losing height through this cirque, with lovely panoramic views and the sea in the background.
From cala Giverola, we’ll take Tossa road and after cala Pola (a camping), there is the access to go on foot to the impressive cala Bona. A heavenly bath waits for us in this little paradise on the shore.
We’ll come back by the road, putting an end to nearly fifty km. This route allows us to enjoy mountain biking with lovely perspectives of the coast, and to discover these magic and virgin spots of the wild Ardenya that flings down to the sea.
