We’ve cycled to the old Montnegre parish (Sant Mateu and Santa Maria) in the middle of les Gavarres. The aim was to reach the top of Montigalar (446m high) in order to celebrate the FC Barcelona victory of the UEFA Super Cup. We’ll cycle across some representative spots of the massif. We’ve cycled by can Vilallonga stream, Creu de les Monges, Santa Pellaia and Montnegre. On our way back, we’ve gone from vall de Brugantó to Sant Cristòfol del Bosc and Llambilles. We’ve cycled on the green way to reach Llagostera, the beginning of the route. Montigalar peak offers us a large complete panoramic view from Santuari dels Àngels (a sanctuary close to us) to Empordà plains, Medes Islands, Roses Gulf and the whole Gavarres massif that spreads out from Girona to the sea. We’ll find a lovely path that will drive us to the Balcó de les Bruixes in the foothills before reaching the top of Santa Maria del Montnegre. This is a kind of rocky prow that makes up a lovely viewpoint. It is a special spot that will bring us back to old rituals of spells and curses. We are bewitched by the magic and the beauty of the place and by Montigalar, the old mountain of the eagles.
