Trains and Gavarres

:
Maximum duration:

It is a long itinerary through Gavarres. The starting point is in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and the end, in Flaçà. When we get there, we’ll take the train to Caldes de Malavella and we’ll cycle to Llagostera, where we’ll take the greenway to come back to the starting point. We’ve done a circular route through Gavarres in just one morning.
From Sant Feliu, we’ll cycle to els Metges, passing by Romanyà and Matxo Mort col. Once there, we’ll take a signposted path (yellow and white) on the right side towards Sant Sadurní de l’Heura. This path is in the middle of the woods and goes along the valley of Cantagalls stream. We’ll pass by can Font mas and we’ll cross the stream several times. On our way down, we’ll find the nice Cantagalls fountain, an ideal place to have a break. Further on, we’ll find Frigola mill. It is a flour mill that is restored. Guided tours can be done there. We’ll turn left and we’ll climb to the magnificent Puigmiquel lime pit. We’ll cross Sant Sadurní village towards Millàs. It is a medieval spot, attached to Madremanya. Afterwards, we’ll cycle to Púbol, a little arranged village that belongs to the Dalí route, by a recently paved path. Further on, we’ll reach la Pera village and its Riuràs neighbourhood and finally Flaçà and its train station. An interesting 70-km route has been cycled in half day. We’ve had a 1200m high difference that allows us to cycle widely through les Gavarres and combine two means of transport that has a hopeful future: the bicycle and the train.
