It’s a route through Serra Llonga to know the new chapel of Vallvanera that was blessed in 1966. A little festive gathering takes place in September. We’ll cycle through Fenals and Puig dels Abells to reach Mas Nou (Golf courses). While we are cycling upwards, we’ll have lovely panoramic views over the Fenals hermitage and the vall de Calonge. We’ll find soon the Vallvanera little chapel (in the picture). The spot is arranged and tided up. Close to the chapel, it stands the old hermitage of Santa Maria de Vallvanera (it used to be called Sant Cugat del Far). Its origin is Romanesque and is attached to a mas (country house), being part of a private property at present. It was an old priory of Benedictine nuns and depended on Sant Feliu Monastery. From the southern slope of Mas Nou, we have a large panoramic view over Sant Feliu bay. An image of Santa Maria was worshipped in Vallvanera. It came from la Rioja region. Before the urbanisation of the mountain, Vallvanera was a meeting point for Vall d’Aro people. The route goes on along Serra Llonga to Romanyà and later, to Font Picant, can Llac and Pla de Panedes to reach Santa Cristina and come back to Sant Feliu. While we are cycling through Pla de Panedes, we’ll see the Mas Nou outline and we‘ll remember the “Goigs de Vallvanera”
